The author deals with an additive Schwarz preconditioner for the \(p\)-version of the boundary element method applied to the Galerkin approximation of single layer potential operators on surfaces in \( \mathbb{R}^{3} \). In particular, it is shown that the spectral condition number of the preconditioned stiffness matrix behaves like \( O(\log \frac{H}{h} p)^{2} \) where \( H \) and \( h \) refer to the coarse mesh size and the fine mesh size, respectively. The analysis relies on the \(K\)-method for interpolation in Sobolev spaces and on duality arguments.
