If \(E_n\) and \(F_m\) are \(\mathbb{R}^n\) resp. \(\mathbb{R}^m\) equipped with symmetric norms the authors study the asymptotic behaviour of various \(s\)-numbers (approximation-, Weyl-, Gelfand-, Kolmogorov-) of the identity mapping \(\ell^{nm}_2\to E_n\otimes_\alpha F_m\) and its inverse where \(\alpha\) is a reasonable tensor norm. As an interesting application they obtain, for example, the exact asymptotic behaviour of the type 2 and cotype 2 constants of \(\ell^n_p\otimes_\alpha\ell^n_q\) if \(\alpha\) is the projective or the injective norm and \(p,q<\infty\).
