The paper gives a presentation of the basic theory of quantum graphs and discusses existing results on quantum graph isospectrality. A method is given for constructing families of isospectral systems using linear representations of finite groups. This relies upon a construction of quotient graphs which is used to obtain various examples of isospectral quantum graphs --- the relationship with Sunada's method is given. A complete treatment is given of quantum graphs. The method presented can be applied to other systems such as manifolds and 2-dimensional drums. Well known isospectral drums are produced as are some new examples.
