This article considers ring \(Q\)-mappings, which generalize \(Q\)-mappings, and continues the author's former works (see, e.g., [``Theory of moduli, capacities, and normal families of mappings admitting branching'', Ukrainian Math. Bull. 4, No. 4, 573--593 (2007), \url{http://eprints.zu.edu.ua/id/eprint/13854}]). Let \(D\subset \overline{\mathbb R^n}\) be a domain and let \(\overline{\mathbb R^n}\) be equipped with a spherical (chordal) metric. A mapping \(f:D\to \overline{\mathbb R^n}\) is said to be a ring \(Q\)-mapping at a point \(x_0\in D\) if the inequality \[ M(f(\Gamma(S_1,S_2,R)))\leq \int_R Q(x)\cdot \eta^n(|x-x_0|)\, dm(x) \] holds for any annulus \(R=R(r_1,r_2,x_0)\), \(0<r_1<r_2<r_0=\mathrm{dist}(x_0,\partial D)\), and every measurable function \(\eta: (r_1,r_2)\to [0,\infty]\) with \[ \int_{r_1}^{r_2}\eta(r)\, dr \geq 1, \] where \(S_i=S(x_0,r_i)=\{x\in\mathbb R^n:|x-x_0|=r_i\}\), \(i=1,2,\) and \(M(f(\Gamma(S_1,S_2,R)))\) stands for the conformal modulus of the image of the curve family. Already in his previous paper [loc. cit.], the author studied conditions on \(Q\) which ensure equicontinuity and normality of families of this type. Here, in the first part of the paper, the author establishes necessary and sufficient conditions that guarantee equicontinuity of a family of discrete open ring \(Q\)-mappings by imposing an appropriate condition on \(Q\), namely the finite mean oscillation (FMO) condition. This also generalizes the known result of \textit{R. Miniowitz} [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 84, 35--43. (1982; Zbl 0478.30024)] for quasiregular mappings. In the second part of the paper the author shows sufficient conditions for equicontinuity of a family of open discrete ring \(Q\)-mappings \(f:D\to \overline{\mathbb R^n}\setminus E_f\) which omit the points of a compact set \(E_f\) of positive capacity such that \(c(E_f)\geq\delta>0\), where \(c(\cdot)\) is a set function. This follows the study of \textit{M. Vuorinen} [``Some inequalities for the moduli of curve families'', Michigan Math. J. 30, No. 3, 369--380 (1983; \url{doi:10.1307/mmj/1029002912})], where such restrictions were applied to bounded \(Q\).
