When J. H. Smith created the theory of combinatorial model categories he also claimed that, given a locally presentable category \(\mathcal K\) and a set \(I\) of morphisms, there is the smallest model structure on \(\mathcal K\) having cofibrations generated by \(I\). This was verified under Vopěnka's principle [\textit{J. Rosický} and \textit{W. Tholen}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 355, No. 9, 3611--3623 (2003; Zbl 1030.55015)] but it is still open without assuming this large-cardinal axiom. Later, \textit{M. Olschok} [Appl. Categ. Struct. 19, No. 6, 901--938 (2011; Zbl 1251.18003)] generalizing the work of \textit{D.-C. Cisinski} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 174, No. 1, 43--82 (2002; Zbl 1015.18009)]. found sufficient conditions when this is true. The present paper continues this approach and, in particular, extends it to reflective and coreflective subcategories.
