Let \(X\), \(U\) be complex Banach spaces, \(A\) be the generator of the strongly continuous semigroup of linear operators in \(X\), \(B\colon U\to X\) be a linear bounded operator. Further let \(F[x,u]\) be a quadratic form on \(X\oplus U\). Say that for \((A,B,F)\) the Lur'e equation is solvable if there exist linear bounded operators \(H=H^*\colon X\to X\), \(\kappa =\kappa^*\colon U\to U\) and \(h\colon U\to U\) such that \[ 2\, \mathrm{Re}(Ax+Bu,Hx)+F[x,u] = \vert \kappa u+hx\vert^2 \] for all \(x\in D(A)\) and \(u\in U\). In this paper the author gives necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the Lur'e equation and sufficient conditions for the absolute stability of the controlled system \(x'(t) = Ax(t)+Bu(t)\), \(x(0)\in X\).
