Let \(W(X)\) be the reduced Witt ring associated to a space of signatures \((X,G)\). In his earlier paper the second author [J. Algebra 119, 105--122 (1988; Zbl 0659.10020)] found a characterization of the image of the natural embedding of \(W(X)\) into the ring of continuous functions \(C(X,\mathbb C)\). However, it was done under the assumption that the exponent of \(G\) is a power of \(2\). This note explains how to solve this problem without the \(2\)-power assumption. Detailed proofs are promised to appear in a forthcoming paper.
