Let \(C\subseteq\mathbb{P}^ n\) be a locally Cohen-Macaulay curve and let \(M(C)=\oplus H^ 1I_ C(i)\) be its Hartshorne-Rao module; the structure of \(M(C)\) contains many information on the extrinsic geometry of the curve. For \(d\geq g+n\) (\(g\)=genus of \(C\)) call \(W(d,g;n)\) the unique component of the Hilbert scheme of curves in \(\mathbb{P}^ n\) of degree \(d\), genus \(g\), with non-special hyperplane section. The author gives here results on the multiplicative structure of \(M(C)\) for \(C\in W(d,g;n)\) general. He proves that when \(d\geq n+(ng/(n-1))\), then \(M(C)\) is generated in degree 1: defining \[ \text{diam}(C)=\max\{p+1:M(C)_ a\neq 0\quad\text{and } M(C)_{p+a}\neq 0\quad\text{for some } a\} \] and \(\text{ord}(C)=\min\{i:(x_ 0,\ldots, x_ n)^ iM(C)=0\}\) then for \(C\in W(d,g;n)\) general, one has \(\text{diam}(C)=\text{ord}(C)\). Both proofs are achieved by induction on the degree, using deformations to reducible curves.
