The study of the behavior of a system as one of its parameters change is currently of great interest in the control community. In this paper a special case of this problem is studied in which the limit model of the system is degenerate (i.e., as the parameter approaches its nominal value, the order of the associated linear system develops a system matrix which is singular). In particular, conditions are developed under which the limit model remains stable. The results are illustrated with a realistic example: that of two magnetically-coupled electrical circuits described by a second-order differential equation.
