In order to generalize Takens famous embedding theorem to infinite-dimensional nonautonomous and random dynamical systems, the author establishes an embedding theorem for parametrized subsets of \(L^2\) which are bounded in some Sobolev space and which have finite box-counting dimension. This allows to formulate a delay embedding theorem for finite-dimensional attractors of cocycle dynamical systems. In contrast to Takens statement the imbedding here only possesses a Hölder continuous inverse so that quantitative it may change under the imbedding.
