Let \(F\) be a non-Archimedean local field of residual characteristic \(p\), and let \(\ell\) be a prime number distinct from \(p\). The {semisimple} Langlands correspondence consists in a collection of bijections between the isomorphism classes of \(n\)-dimensional semisimple continuous complex representations of the Weil group \(W_F\) and the supercuspidal supports of the irreducible complex representations of \(\text{GL}(n,F)\), for any integer \(n\geq 1\). Let \(\overline{\mathbb Q}_\ell\) be the field of \(\ell\)-adic numbers. By fixing an isomorphism \(\overline{\mathbb Q}_\ell\simeq\mathbb C\) (the field of complex numbers), one can replace \(\mathbb C\) by \(\overline{\mathbb Q}_\ell\). Let \(q\) be the order of the residue field of \(F\). When \(q\) is a square, the resulting correspondence on \(\overline{\mathbb Q}_\ell\) does not depend on the choice of the above isomorphism. When \(q\) is not a square, it only depends on the element in \(\overline{\mathbb Q}^*_\ell\) corresponding to \(q^{1/2}\). Let \(\overline{\mathbb F}_\ell\) denote the residue field of the ring of integers of \(\overline{\mathbb Q}_\ell\). The main results of the paper under review are the proof of the existence and the uniqueness of a semisimple Langlands correspondence over \(\overline{\mathbb F}_\ell\) which is compatible with the reduction modulo \(\ell\) of the semisimple Langlands correspondence over \(\overline{\mathbb Q}_\ell\). It is also shown in the paper how one can deduce the complete Langlands correspondence from the semisimple one. The main tools of the proof of the semisimple Langlands correspondence are given by (a slightly generalized version of) the theory of types of Bushnell-Kutzko and the existence of congruences between automorphic representations for groups of compact type. It is proved in particular that an automorphic representation for such a group, which is trivial at infinity, and admits an irreducible supercuspidal representation \(\pi\) of \(\text{GL}(n,F)\) as a local component, is congruent modulo \(\ell\) to an automorphic representation, trivial at infinity, admitting a local component \(\pi'\) with the same modulo \(\ell\) reduction as \(\pi\) or belonging to a block of the \(\ell\)-block of \(\pi\).
