The authors develop a state space approach to extension, torsion, bending, shearing and pressuring of laminated composite tubes. The formalism suggests a systematic way, by using matrix algebra and transfer matrix, to determine the stress and deformation in a multilayered cylindrically anisotropic tube under applied loads that do not vary in axial direction. The authors present an exact analysis of the tube subjected to uniform surface tractions, an axial force, a torque and bending moments.
