This paper is a contribution to the extensively researched field of matrices which are centrosymmetric, centroskew, \((R,S)\)-symmetric, \((R,S)\)-skew symmetric, etc., and contains a long bibliography. In this paper the author asserts that all these papers, including his own, are based on an unnecessarily restrictive assumption, namely that the spectra of the matrices \(R\) and \(S\) that are used to define the symmetries consist of \(k\)th roots of unity. He shows that this assumption is irrelevant and presents an alternative approach which eliminates this assumption and exposes a wider class of generalized symmetries for \(k>2\).
