    Consider the Dirac system \[ By^{\prime }+\Omega (x)y=\lambda \rho (x)y, \] where \(y=\left( y_{1},\;y_{2}\right) ^{T},\;\rho (x)\) is a step function, \[ B=\left( \begin{matrix} 0 & 1 \\ -1 & 0 \end{matrix} \right) \] and \[ \Omega (x)=\left( \begin{matrix} p(x) & q(x) \\ q(x) & -p(x) \end{matrix} \right) \] with real valued functions \(p, q\in L^{2}\left( 0,\pi \right) \). The authors adapt the transformation operators method to solve the inverse problem of recovering \(\Omega \) from the spectral function by the Gelfand-Levitan theory.
