A reaction-diffusion-convection microscopic model for cell-to-cell transport and reaction of the plant hormone auxin is presented. Macroscopic (effective) equations and transport/reaction coefficients are derived by means of a formal asymptotic procedure applied to a periodic distribution of cells. Finally, the macroscopic model is illustrated numerically for a realistic range of data and parameters.
