    The authors deal with the \(L^2\) harmonic forms of a complete noncompact Riemannian manifold. They prove that if \(M\) is a complete noncompact n-dimensional Riemannian manifold with a pole \(Q\) (\(n\geq 3)\), and if \(0 < p < {n\over 1+\sqrt2}\) or \({\sqrt2 n\over 1+\sqrt2} < p < n\), and assume the radial sectional curvatures satisfy \(-{c(1-c)\over r^2} \leq K_r \leq {c(1-c) \over r^2} \) on \(M - \{Q\}\), where \(r\) denotes distance to \(Q\) and \({(1 +\sqrt2)p -1 \over n-1} < c < 1\), then \(H^P(M) = \{0\}\). If \(M\) has a soul then a similar result is obtained.
