The topological center of the spectrum of the algebra generated by the maps \(\exp q(t)\) (Q744864): Difference between revisions

The author deals with the enveloping semigroups of some flows on the discrete additive group of the real numbers \(\mathbb {R}\). In Section 3, the flow \((\mathbb {R}, \Gamma^n)\) is introduced, where \(\Gamma\) denotes the Bohr compactification of \(\mathbb {R}\), \(n\in \mathbb{N}\). In Section 4, it is shown that the spectrum \(M (W_n (\mathbb {R}))\) of the norm closed algebra \(W_n (\mathbb {R})\) generated by the family \(\{ \exp (q(t)); q(t) \text{ is a real polynomial of degree less than } n+1\}\), is isomorphic to \(\Gamma ^n\). Then, it is proved that the topological center of \(M (W (\mathbb {R}))\) is equal to \(\epsilon (\mathbb{R})\), where \(\epsilon: \mathbb{R}\to M (W (\mathbb {R}))\) is the evaluation mapping.
