Let \(T\) denote the Takagi nowhere-differentiable continuous function. The main purpose of the present paper is to give a characterization of those points where \(T\) has a left-sided, right-sided, or two-sided infinite derivative. This is mainly done by using a representation in terms of Rademacher series. This characterization is illustrated by several examples. A consequence of the main result is that the sets of points where \(T'(x) = \pm\infty\) have Hausdorff dimension one. In the last part of this paper there are obtained several results concerning the modulus of continuity of \(T\).
