Let \(K\) be a field and \(M\) be a finitely generated graded \(R=K[x_1,\dots,x_n]\) module. After \textit{W. Bruns, C. Krattenthaler} and \textit{J. Uliczka} [J. Commut. Algebra 2, No. 3, 327--357 (2010; Zbl 1237.13026)] a Hilbert decomposition of \(M\) is a finite family \({\mathcal H}=\{(S_i,s_i)\}\) such that \(s_i\in {\mathbb Z}\), \(S_i\) is a graded \(K\)-algebra retract of \(R\) for each \(i\), and \(M\cong\bigoplus_iS_i(-s_i)\) as graded \(K\)-vector spaces. The Hilbert depth of \({\mathcal H}\) is given by \(\mathrm{Hdepth}\;{\mathcal H}=\min_i \mathrm{depth} S_i(-s_i)\) and the Hilbert depth of \(M\) is given by \[ \mathrm{Hdepth}\;M=\max \{ \mathrm{Hdepth}\;{\mathcal H}: {\mathcal H} \;\text{ is a Hilbert decomposition of } M\}. \] Let \(I_{n,d}\) be the ideal generated by all square free monomials of degree \(d\) of \(R\), that is a square free Veronese ideal. Here it shows that \(\mathrm{Hdepth}(I_{n,d})=d+\lfloor {n\choose d+1}/{n\choose d}\rfloor\). \textit{M. Cimpoeas} [``Stanley depth of square free Veronese ideals'', \url{arXiv:0907.1232}] and \textit{M. T. Keller, Y.-H. Shen, N. Streib} and \textit{S. J. Young} [J. Algebr. Comb. 33, No. 2, 313--324 (2011; Zbl 1209.13010)] conjectured that the Stanley depth of \(I_{n,d}\) is \(d+\lfloor {n\choose d+1}/{n\choose d}\rfloor\), the above result being weaker but in the line of this conjecture.
