The authors consider the following discrete boundary value problem \[ \Delta^2u_i(k) + \lambda h_i(k)f_i(u_1(k),\ldots,u_n(k))=0\;,\;k\in[0,T]\;,\;i=1,\ldots,n \] \[ u_i(0)=u_i(T+2)\;,\;i=1,\ldots,n \] where \(\lambda>0\) is a constant, \(T\) and \(n\geq 2\) are fixed positive integers, \(\Delta u(k)=u(k+1)-u(k)\), \(\Delta^2 u(k)=\Delta(\Delta u(k))\). Assume that (A1) \(h_i:[0,T]\rightarrow (0,\infty)\;,\;i=1,\ldots,n\) (A2) \(f_i:\mathbb R^n_+\rightarrow \mathbb R_+\) is continuous. The boundary value problem has a positive solution for all \(\lambda>0\) if one of the following conditions hold (a) \(f^0 = \sum_{i=1}^n f_i^0=0\) and \(f^\infty = \sum_{i=1}^n f_i^\infty\), or (b) \(f^0 = \infty\) and \(f^\infty = 0\). Here \[ f_i^0= \lim_{\| u\| \rightarrow 0}{{f_i(u)}\over{\| u\| }}\;,\;f_i^\infty= \lim_{\| u\| \rightarrow \infty}{{f_i(u)}\over{\| u\| }}\;,\;\| u\| =\sum_1^n u_i\;,\;u\in \mathbb R^n_+ . \]
