Nothing seems to be known about the upper bound of the set of all lengths of geodesics on an arbitrary convex surface. In this paper the generic case is considered and the following result is established. On most convex surfaces in the sense of Baire categories (1) there is an arbitrarily long geodesic starting at a point and in a direction close to given ones; (2) there is an arbitrarily long geodesic without self- intersections.
