The iterates of a large class of operators of convolution type acting on spaces of continuous periodic functions are studied. For positive linear operators \(L\) preserving the constant function \(\mathbf{1}\) and having the property that there exists \(c\in [0,1)\) with \(\vert Lf \vert_{\mathrm{Lip}} \leq c \vert f \vert_{\mathrm{Lip}}\), the constant limit of the iterates in term of the unique invariant probability measure of \(L\) is expressed and the rate of convergence is estimated. Some examples involving the convolution operators of de la Vallée Poussin, Jackson and Fejér-Korovkin are given.
