Consider two orthogonal projectors \(P_1\), \(P_2\) and all possible products of the form \(P_1P_2P_1\cdots P_i\) or \(P_2P_1P_2\cdots P_i\) of arbitrary length \(\geq 2\), \(i=1\) or \(2\). \textit{J. K. Baksalary}, \textit{O. M. Baksalary} and \textit{T. Szulc} [Linear Algebra Appl. 354, 35-39 (2002; Zbl 1025.15039)] (see also \textit{J. K. Baksalary} and \textit{O. M. Baksalary} [Linear Algebra Appl. 341, 129-142 (2002; Zbl 0997.15011)]) shown that two such projectors commute if and only if any two formally different products of that form are equal (excluding some trivial situations). In the present paper this property is generalized in the case when certain linear combinations of three or four products of that kind are \(0\).
