    Necessary and sufficient conditions for degree-reducible and improperly parameterized rational quartic Bézier curves to represent conic sections are derived. The inverse problem is also considered, i.e., for a given conic section, the set of control points and weights is determined so that the corresponding rational quartic Bézier curve represents this section.
