This paper studies the pluricanonical maps for a nonsingular projective 3-fold X whose canonical divisor \(K_ X\) is nef (numerically effective) and big. The main results are: (1) \(\Phi_{| 7K_ X|}\) is birational with the possible exceptions of: (a) \(\kappa\) (\({\mathcal O}_ X)=0\) and \(K^ 2_ X=2\); or (b) \(| 3K_ X|\) is composed of pencils. (2) \(\Phi_{| nK_ X|}\) is birational for \(n\geq 8\). Further if \(\kappa({\mathcal O}_ X)<0\), e.g., when \(K_ X\) is ample, \(\Phi_{| nK_ X|}\) is birational for \(n\geq 7\).
