The article contains a description of a basis of cycles for the homology of the variety of complete quadrics. Following the general framework of C. De Concini and C. Procesi the author uses the techniques of A. Białynicki-Birula for group actions to find a cellular decomposition of the variety of complete quadrics and thus a basis for the homology.
