The author constructs a one parameter family of planar diffeomorphisms of the form \(F_t = y_t \circ F\) with \(y_t(x,y) = (x,ty)\), so that for \(t\) large enough, \(F_t\) possesses an affine horseshoe on \([0,1]\times [0,1]\) and the last occurring bifurcation is a period doubling bifurcation.
