Introduced is a new type of finite fuzzy relation equation which describes the situation when a ``pessimistic value'' for the degree of equality between a given fuzzy subset and an unknown fuzzy relation is known. The main aim is to develop a solid theory for the considered equation. A dual equation is also considered. The authors present a comprehensive example of an application of the results obtained in the field of approximate reasoning.
