The authors prove in this paper that every supersimple field (i.e. a field with supersimple theory) has a trivial Brauer group. Examples for supersimple fields are perfect pseudo-algebraically closed (PAC) fields with ``small'' absolute Galois group. It is known that conversely any supersimple field is perfect and has a small absolute Galois group. The authors consider their result as a `first approximation' to the conjecture that any supersimple field must be PAC.
