A general stability theory of hybrid dynamical systems is developed which includes discrete-time and discontinuous systems. A generalized `time' space is defined and it is shown that such systems can be embedded in the set of dynamical systems defined on \(\mathbb{R}^+\). Comparison theory and Lyapunov stability theory are generalized to these systems and several Lyapunov-type theorems and their converses are proved.
