This study is motivated by the Efimov effect in the three-body problem. The aim of the paper is to compute the preexponential factor in the asymptotic distribution of a certain sequence which appears in the Faddeev approach to the problem. To do this the authors study the Fredholm determinant asymptotics of convolution operators on finite intervals with rational symbols having real zeros. The extension of the Szegő-Kac-Ahiezer formula to symbols with real zeros is obtained.
