Let \(G\) be one of the classical groups \(\text{GL}_n(q)\), \(\text{GU}_n(q^2)\), \(\text{SL}_n(q)\) or \(\text{SU}_n(q^2)\), where \(q\) is a prime power and \(n\geq 2\) is a natural number. The authors, among other things, compute the number of regular semisimple conjugacy classes of elements in \(G\). These are given explicitly in terms of functions of \(q\) and \(n\).
