Denote by \(P_\mu\) and \(Q_\mu\) the Poisson and conjugate Poisson integrals in the unit disk of a complex measure \(\mu\) on the unit circle. The author studies the relative asymptotic growth of \(P_\mu\) and \(Q_\mu\) near the support of \(\mu\). In particular he shows that, on \(\mu\)-almost every radius, \(Q_\mu\) grows no faster than \(P_\mu\). Finally, he discusses related open questions on the boundary behaviour of analytic functions. The work illuminates previous results of \textit{W. Rudin} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 85, 357--360 (1979; Zbl 0406.30022)] and \textit{A. B. Aleksandrov}, \textit{J. M. Anderson} and \textit{A. Nicolau} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 79, 318--352 (1999; Zbl 1085.46020)].
