Using the shear deformable shell theory, the authors consider the wave propagation in piezoelectric coupled cylindrical shells in the presence of transverse shear and rotary inertia. The dispersion relations are obtained in the case of propagating waves. The effect of thickness of piezoelectric layers is studied to show that it is significant only for lower wave numbers. A comparison with membrane theory and Love shell theory is also presented.
