The concepts of selectors and locally free selectors [\textit{H. Crapo}, Selectors, Adv. Math. 54, 233-277 (1984)] are shown to be just greedoids with the interval property and those with interval property without upper bounds, respectively. The authors also show that shellings of a retract of a poset are not selectors, as claimed by Crapo, but are general greedoids.
