Diese Experimentaluntersuchung bietet insofern auch ein theoretisches Interesse, als der Verf. sie unternommen hat, um die \textit{Hertz}sche Theorie (J. für Math. 92, 156-171; F. d. M. 14, 807, 1882, JFM 14.0807.01) zu prüfen. Aus diesem Grunde werden auch im ersten Kapitel die \textit{Hertz}schen Formeln kurz abgeleitet. Die Versuchsergebnisse stimmen nicht vollständig mit jenen Formeln. Daher hat der Verf. andere Formeln auf mehr empirischem Wege konstruiert, welche den Tatsachen besser entsprechen.
