Let k be a field complete with respect to a discrete valuation. Some of abelian varieties over k are characterized by k-projective algebraic tori. The foundations of these abelian varieties can be referred to \textit{L. Gerritzen} [Math. Ann. 196, 323-346 (1972; Zbl 0255.14013)], \textit{H. Morikawa} [Nagoya Math. J. 20, 1-27 (1962; Zbl 0115.390) and 21, 231-250 (1962; Zbl 0115.390)], \textit{P. Roquette} [''Analytic theory of elliptic functions over local rings'', Hamb. Math. Einzelschriften, Neue Folge 1 (1970; Zbl 0194.520)] and \textit{H. Tapia-Recillas} [Nagoya Math. J. 69, 65-96 (1978; Zbl 0358.14022)]. In this paper, the author shows, by using these foundations, that the Néron symbol for this type of abelian varieties can be computed by using k-meromorphic theta functions.
