    Bezeichnet \(\alpha\) eine reelle Zahl, so ist die Reihe \[ 1 + \frac{1}{2^{1+i\alpha}} + \frac{1}{3^{1+i\alpha}} + \frac{1}{4^{1+i\alpha}} + \cdots + \frac{1}{n^{1+i\alpha}} + \cdots, \] deren einzelne Glieder den ganzen Zahlen entsprechen, für keinen Wert von \(\alpha\), die Reihe \[ \frac{1}{2^{1+i\alpha}} + \frac{1}{3^{1+i\alpha}} + \frac{1}{5^{1+i\alpha}} + \cdots + \frac{1}{p^{1+i\alpha}} + \cdots \] dagegen, deren einzelne Glieder den Primzahlen entsprechen, für alle von Null verschiedenen Werte von \(\alpha\) convergent, für welche die Reihe \[ 1+\frac{1}{i\alpha}- \frac{1+i\alpha}{1.2}\;\sum^{\infty}_{k=2}\;\frac{1}{k^{2+i\alpha}} - \frac{(1+i\alpha)(2+i\alpha)}{1.2.3}\;\sum^{\infty}_{k=2}\;\frac{1}{k^{3+i\alpha}} - \cdots \] nicht gleich Null ist.
