Der Verfasser behandelt die Aufgabe, die Coefficienten einer als Potenzreihe gebildeten Annäherungsformel nach der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate zu bestimmen. Er zeigt, wie diese Bestimmung näherungsweise durch Anwendung der Gauss'schen Quadraturformeln gelöst werden kann.
