This paper is concerned with the Schur complement of a model problem as a preconditioner for the Uzawa type schemes for the generalized Stokes problem (the Stokes problem with the additional term \(\alpha u\) in the motion equation) and sufficient conditions for convergence in the form of inequalities of Ladyshenskaya-Babuška-Brezzi type. The authors establish that the method converges with a rate that is bounded by some constant independent of \(\alpha\). Numerical results are presented.
