The existence and stability of quasi-steady periodic voidage waves in a fluidized bed (Q1087079): Difference between revisions

The equations, considered by the authors in J. Fluid Mech. 131, 427-454 (1983; Zbl 0543.76130) for the time evolution of a one-dimensional voidage disturbance in an otherwise uniform gas fluidized bed, are further investigated for the existence of the quasi-steady periodic solutions and then their uniformly valid expansions are obtained. Hopf bifurcation theorem with propagation speed as the bifurcation parameter is used for the analysis. The temporal stability of the quasi-steady solutions is also considered.
