    Let be \(M^n\) a nondegenerate affine hypersphere in \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) with nonvanishing Pick invariant \(J\) and with constant sectional curvature \(c\) of its Blaschke affine metric \(h\) of signature \(s\) (number of negative squares in its normal form) with \(0\leq 2s\leq n\). The author shows that then \(M^n\) must have a flat metric \(h\) and is affine congruent with an open part of the algebraic hypersurface a) \((x^2_1+ x^2_2)\cdots(x^2_{n-1}+ x^2_n) x_{n+1}=1\) if \(n= 2s\) or b) \((x^2_1+ x^2_2)\cdots (x^2_{n-2}+ x^2_{n-1})(x^2_n+ x^2_{n+1})= 1\) resp. \((x^2_1+ x^2_2)\cdots (x^2_{n-2}+ x^2_{n-1}) x_n x_{n+1}= 1\) if \(n= 2s+1\) or c) \((x^2_1+ x^2_2)\cdots (x^2_{2s-1}+ x^2_{2s}) x_{2s+1}\cdots x_{n+1}= 1\) if \(n> 2s+1\). This very remarkable result is a common generalization of a theorem of \textit{A. Li}, \textit{U. Simon} and \textit{L. Vrancken} for \(s= 0\) [Math. Z. 206, 651--658 (1991; Zbl 0721.53014)] and \textit{M. Magid} and \textit{P. Ryan} for \(n= 3\), \(s=1\) [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 330, 887--901 (1992; Zbl 0765.53009)] and gives a positive answer to a conjecture of M. Magid and P. Ryan in 1989. -- The main tool of its long proof is the relation \(K(K(Y,Z), X)- K(K(X,Z),Y)= (-J)(h(Y,Z)X- h(X,Y)Y)\) for arbitrary tangential vector fields \(X\), \(Y\), \(Z\) of \(M^n\), a consequence of the integrability conditions for \(M^n\), where the vector-valued bilinear form \(K\) is the cubic form for \(M^n\).
