The authors develop the multiple-scale Trefftz method for solving the Cauchy problem of the Laplace equation in an arbitrary bounded domain and under a large noisy disturbance. They employ the fundamental solution as the test function and insert it into the derived boundary integral equation to generate some extra linear equations. The numerical examples reveal that the accuracy of the numerical solution can be improved by merely supplementing a few extra linear equations in the mixed-type method. In general, the proposed method is interesting and further discussion about the convergence analysis is required.
