An artinian ring A with 1 and Jacobson radical J is called ``of second local type'', if for every indecomposable right A-module M the factor module \(M/MJ^ 2\) is indecomposable. Here the author continues his investigations on rings of this type published in previous papers [ibid. 21, 327-342 and 343-364 (1984; Zbl 0547.16010)]. Generalizing earlier results he gives a complete classification of the local left and right modules over such rings and characterizes those left serial rings with selfduality and those sincere simply connected algebras which are of second local type.
