This interesting paper describes the authors' 2-D boundary element computer program SHERPA for elasticity applications. The capabilities described include a \(h\)-hierarchical self-adaptive procedure, based on ingenious error indicators defined by two alternative solutions with the same number of collocation points but with some located at different positions. The effectiveness of the procedure is illustrated by three examples.
