The authors give a precise formulation and a rigorous proof of the Hellmann-Feynman theorem of quantum chemistry. As a consequence of this theorem they discover again known monotonicity properties of the zeros of Bessel functions. It would be interesting to discover new results using Hellmann-Feynman theorem. The applications in the present paper are well known.
