Let \(T_ 1\) and \(T_ 2\) be centred convex bodies in \({\mathbb{R}}^ 3\) \((T_ i\) is closed, bounded, int \(T_ i\neq \emptyset\) and the origin is its centre of symmetry). For any direction z, let \(A(T_ i,z)\) denote the area of the orthogonal projection of \(T_ i\) onto a plane perpendicular to z. The author's main result is to obtain an estimate of the Hausdorff distance \(\partial (T_ 1,T_ 2)\) from the \(L^ 2\)-norm \(\| A(T_ 1;z)-A(T_ 2,z)\|.\)
