The author studies nonlinear stability of a layer of thermosolutal Rivlin-Ericksen fluid in porous medium. The layer is heated and soluted from below, and its boundaries are stress-free. By employing the generalized energy method, the author obtains a sufficient condition for unconditional nonlinear stability of motionless state. For some combinations of Schmidt and Prandtl numbers, this sufficient condition for stability coincides with the necessary condition obtained by linear theory. As application, the author establishes a nonlinearly stabilizing effect of concentration on the system.
