The authors analyse a cell-centered finite volume scheme for time- dependent hyperbolic equations, where irregular one-dimensional and triangular two-dimensional meshes are used. Conditions sufficient to ensure positivity and linearity preservation for this scheme are derived. Furthermore, the accuracy of the finite volume scheme is discussed.
