The authors present new examples of simply-connected algebraic surfaces of general type and non-negative signature. These examples include three spin manifolds with zero signature and a countably infinite number of spin manifolds with positive signature. The examples are Galois covers of generic projections of Hirzebruch (rational ruled) surfaces with respect to the symmetric group.
